About Emma

I'm a journalist who loves reporting across media platforms.

I'm both a freelance general assignment reporter at NBC Bay Area/Telemundo 48 and an award-winning staff writer for J. The Jewish News of Northern California. I'm also the creator and host of Such a Match!, an original narrative feature podcast about Jewish love stories.

My Recent Work

NBC Bay Area

Covering the Bay Area

I cover all regions of the Bay Area and report in English while also conducting daily interviews in Spanish for broadcast. I love investigative reporting, digging for the details, connecting the dots, combing through data and records and starting a conversation.

Before starting my on-air reporting career, I worked as a news producer for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, The Today Show, and MSNBC based in NYC. Prior to joining NBC Bay Area in 2023, I reported for KTVU Fox 2 News.

J. The Jewish News of  Northern California

Covering the Jewish community

As a reporter for J. the Jewish News of Northern California, I cover the most challenging issues facing Northern California's Jewish communities in the wake of Oct. 7.

My long-form feature "Paradise Lost: Israel-Hamas war tears at social fabric of tiny Bolinas" won first place from the California News Publishers Association in May 2025. The story chronicled how the Israel-Hamas war divided neighbors and shattered longtime friendships in the close-knit coastal town.

In January 2025 I embedded myself with the Jewish community of Los Angeles and reported as they observed the first Shabbat amid evacuations, flames and smoke during the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles County's history.

In December 2024 I received five awards from the San Francisco Press Club, recognizing my reporting for both NBC Bay Area and J.

My primary focus has been on education reporting across the Bay Area's K-12 schools and college campuses. I've become a trusted resource for educators and families to turn to for news coverage.

In January 2024, I broke the news that dozens of Jewish Oakland families were applying to leave their school district over safety concerns. The story went viral on X, and was widely covered across local media. It was also cited in a federal investigation.
